ARRIVAL IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY

The Brand Companions set off to discover the Basque Country — a region shaped by contrasts, character and a deep sense of identity. Our journey began in Bilbao, where architecture, culture and urban rhythm created the first moment of inspiration.

From the sculptural presence of the Guggenheim Museum to quiet moments of reflection inside the exhibitions, Bilbao opened the door to a weekend full of fresh perspectives. A beginning defined by bold architecture, artistic encounters and the feeling of stepping into a place where culture becomes part of the experience.

From Bilbao, the journey continued to San Sebastián — the place where we spent most of our time and where the weekend truly unfolded. Between sea, hills and historic streets, the city became our base for movement, discovery and shared moments.

We swam in the ocean, spent time by the water, sailed along the coast and followed hiking trails with sweeping views across the Basque landscape. A coastal walk led us towards the port, while a guided tour with locals revealed hidden viewpoints, personal highlights and the kind of insider perspectives that make a place feel closer.

San Sebastián showed itself not only through its scenery, but through the people who guided us, welcomed us and shared their city with us. Nature, movement and local knowledge came together in a way that made every moment feel personal.

As much as the weekend was shaped by landscape and movement, its most meaningful moments happened around the table. Shared dinners, local flavors and traditional drinks became an essential part of experiencing the Basque Country and each other.

From a dinner cooked by a Michelin-starred chef to the warmth of local hospitality, we always felt welcome. Their friends became our friends, and every shared meal carried the ease of being invited into something authentic.

One evening led us to Lizeaga, one of the region’s oldest cider houses, where Basque tradition could be felt in every detail. After a guided tour through the cider cellar, we gathered around the table for dinner, tasted local cider straight from the barrels and let the evening unfold in the most authentic way. A shared experience full of warmth, tradition and connection and the perfect way to end the day together.

Another took us through the old town of San Sebastián on a private, locally guided pintxos tour — a relaxed bar-to-bar experience with traditional stops, carefully selected bites and the feeling of moving through the city like locals.

All in all, it was a weekend full of impressions, good food, local drinks, inspiring people and moments that brought us closer together. A journey for the senses, for new perspectives and for the soul. Shaped by a place that made us feel welcome from the very beginning.
